San Marcos Saturday Farmer's MarketThis market is held every Saturday al year round. It is operated by San Marcos Farmers Market Association, a non-profit organization which provides an outlet for Central Texas farmers to market their crops and a source of fresh, homegrown and homemade products for the local consumer.
First Thursday - Downtown Buda
Join the Buda Downtown Merchants’ Group for this free event as they encourage local residents and visitors to wander the unique antique and specialty shops. From 5-9 p.m. businesses stay open for shopping, dining, music and fun.
Second Saturday Gallery Trail
This free monthly event is sponsored by numerous art galleries in Wimberley. Each event offers art, food, drink and entertainment. Go to any participating gallery, pick up a map and make a night of it!
Spring
Mutt StruttThis annual event includes a one mile walk, along the San Marcos river, pet contests (Best owner-dog look alike, Best dressed, Best trick), silent auction, and more. It also increase the visibility of shelter pets for adoption and brings attention to the issues of pet overpopulation and responsible pet ownership.
County Fair & Weiner Dog Races
Every year in Buda, the Wiener Dog Capital of Texas, the Country Fair and Wiener Dog Races provide a weekend of adorable fun for the whole family. Attendees come from all over the country to enjoy the qualifying Wiener Dog Races, which culminate in the run for the roses on the second day of the two-day festival. The event also features a Best Dressed Dog Contest, a Bake-Off and BBQ and Chili Cookoffs, and there’s live music and entertainment throughout the weekend.
Hooked on Fishing Spring Fishing Tournament
This event is open to all adults (18 AND OLDER) with a valid Texas Freshwater Fishing License.This unique tournament will test your strategic ability to catch qualifying species of fish in Lake Kyle: Large-Mouth Bass, Sunfish/Perch and Channel Catfish.
Summer
Movies at the Lake - KyleAll movies are rated G or PG, and are free to the public. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and snacks. The City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department has a movie screen that is 32.1' x 24' x 16'. The viewable screen size is 26' x 15' with a 30 Ft. diagonal!
Movies begins after sunset and are shown at the amphitheater at Lake Kyle.
Fajita Fiesta
Fajitas, BBQ and more tasty food can be explored at Fajita Fiesta. This is a family friendly event that also includes a jalapeno eating contest, games, a talent show, mariachi groups, and arts and crafts vendors.
Dripping with Taste Wine and Food Festival
Come out and sample the largest assortment of Texas wines, craft beers, gourmet foods and spirits available under one roof! Sponsored by the Dripping Springs Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau, this festival was created to showcase the growing number of local vineyards, breweries, distilleries and gourmet food fares peppering the area.
Fall
Kyle Fair & Music FestA classic October celebration complete with a carnival, live music and afternoon stock car racing. Brought to you by the Kyle Chamber of Commerce and Central Texas Speedway, this weekend festival offers all you can ride carnival wristbands, BBQ cook-offs and plenty of food and art vendors sprinkled throughout the grounds.
Farmer Fred's Harvest Fall Carnival
This annual family friendly event in San Marcos has free admission and carnival games and also a children's costume contest!! Concessions and other attractions will be there for a fee.
Pet Fest
The Community helps us generate much-needed funds as we celebrate the human-animal bond. All proceeds raised go to PALS' spay/neuter programs, pet pantry, TNRM, and humane education.
Winter
Sights and Sounds of ChristmasStarted in 1986, Sights & Sounds was created to bring the community together to celebrate the holiday season, and to create a place for local area non-profits to raise money for their causes. Too many activities and attractions to list!
Budafest
Held the first full weekend in December, this festival is sure to put you in the holiday spirit, including a Christmas parade, entertainment, carnival, and over 125 artisans selling handcrafted items of every type – jewelry, candles, holiday decorations, salsas, woodcraft’s, pottery, and soaps to name but a few. Children can also visit and take pictures with Santa.
Polar Bear Splash
Take part in the Kyle tradition and make a "Splash" on January 1st at the Kyle Pool. Light snacks and drinks available. No admission to take part in the "Splash", but can join the Polar Bear Club and get bragging rights for a small fee!
Hays County Livestock Show
The Hays County Livestock Show is an opportunity for 4-H and FFA members from across Hays County to exhibit their project work.
